The Edgewood Yacht Club is pleased and proud to welcome Beetle Cat sailors back to the Edgewood Basin for another set of Leo J. Telesmanick Beetle Cat Championships hosted by our club. EYC has been home to Beetle Cats for most of their 101 years of existence, and this will be the third time that EYC has hosted the “Leo” in the 21st century.
Since our last time hosting in 2017, our new clubhouse is open and will be the center of activity for off- water aspects of the event. We are excited to share our new building with you. Other aspects of the event will be familiar to Beetle sailors who have traveled to EYC in the past. We have an on-site ramp that is available for boat launch and haul (other than at low tides); we have moorings (limited; first-to-register, first-served; otherwise anchorage is available) and launch service during the regatta; and we have on-site trailer storage available for participants. Spectators are welcome to watch from the clubhouse deck or docks (and space may be available on Race Committee and support boats).
For those unfamiliar with Edgewood generally, our neighborhood occupies the west side of the Providence River in Cranston, Rhode Island, just south of the Providence line. Accommodations may be available nearby at the Edgewood Manor B&B or in any of the many Providence hotels, inns, and rentals. EYC will provide breakfast, lunch, and dinner for registrants on Saturday, August 6, and breakfast and lunch on Sunday, August 7. The Saturday night dinner will feature live music.
Early registration is open through Thursday, June 30, at discounted rates. Late registration remains open through Sunday, July 31. Registration is on-line only, but any registrant who is unable to register on-line may contact George Shuster at firstname.lastname@example.org or 401-391-0030 for assistance.
